Our Island: A special place to live and work

Written on April 16, 2019

The Department of Health and Social Care is the largest of the seven departments of the Isle of Man Government.

The Occupational Health Service is a confidential, impartial, medical advisory service and their role is to assist the Hospitals Directorate to prevent ill health and injury associated with work and to promote the health and wellbeing of colleagues. There are six core aspects of service provision based on the UK NHS Faculty of Occupational Medicine SEQOHS Accreditation Standards:

  1. Prevention
  2. Timely Intervention
  3. Rehabilitation
  4. Health Assessments for Work
  5. Promotion of Health and Wellbeing
  6. Teaching and Training Staff Sickness Absence

These services are undertaken daily by the dedicated Occupational Health Team who have been using Warwick International Software for over 23 years. During this time they have experienced the innovations that come with improved technology as well as benefiting from our ongoing investment in enhanced features, functionality and user experience.

Alastair from our Client Relationship Team presented Maria Parsons (OH Service Office Manager) and her colleagues at the Department with one of our awards celebrating long-standing partnerships. He visited the team last week to also provide training on the eOPAS portal in preparation for its imminent launch. Alastair who knows the Isle of Man very well because he grew up there said:

“I have fond memories of visiting here and meeting the Occupational Health Team was a delight. They all have positive attitudes and are not afraid to challenge and ask questions to maximise the benefits from their training.”

The range of benefits our Occupational Health Management Software provides continues to inform key decision-making as well as support and promote improved employee health and wellbeing.
