Southend NHS
I had used OPAS at a previous NHS Occupational Health Unit where we also managed outside contracts for local councils and when I moved to Southend, discovered that the existing software system was unable to provide us with the type of management reports we needed to demonstrate how much activity we were generating.
We considered a range of systems, but given the ability of OPAS to link to the Electronic Staff Record and provide really useful management information as statistics for all of our external clients as well as being able to use it to generate invoicing for our clients we felt that OPAS provided the best system available at the price.
Since we started using OPAS all our clinics have now become paper free and notes are being made direct onto the system, this has saved us a lot of space in relation to filing, in the future we hope to transfer all of our existing archive records onto the system so that we can link through to them from OPAS and thus go entirely paper free in the not too distant future.
What we found particularly useful was the way that we could use voice recognition software to dictate records of consultations straight onto the system and the fact that the system generated all of our appointment letters, fit notes and other documentation in a really efficient way.
The Help Desk is incredibly useful and are always ready to help to assist with implementation and to continue to develop the system to its maximum capacity.
