OPAS is a medical software package provided by Warwick International Computing Systems. It is designed for use in Medical Departments such as our own Occupational Health Department here at University Hospital, Galway. OPAS holds the medical records entered for all staff seen in our department, i.e. vaccination history, sickness absence records, and all manner attendances. OPAS provides many functions, one of which is a diary page from which all daily or weekly appointments and activities can be viewed and utilised. When configured appropriately by liaising with the on site Information Technology Department, OPAS has the ability to print specified reports on required criteria, such as numbers of staff seen for a particular reason, in one particular area or end of year reports/stats. Warwick International provides a support service to our users, which can be used at any time to configure existing settings or create new settings for the OPAS system. OPAS assists significantly in the day to day running of an efficient Occupational Health Department.
