The Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Occupational Health Department have been using OPAS since 2003
Over the past years the staff have become more confident in utilising this system and have tailored it to the needs of the business, with the help and support of Warwick International. The diary is well utilised and we can produce several reports that are required for the organisation in relation to Clinical Governance / Workflow planning etc.
The reports also allow us to generate overdue episodes / events allowing us to ensure staff are seen at the appropriate times.
We have recently upgraded our system and now have the facility to scan our documents into OPAS, thus reducing the need for paper records and the duplication of some consultations. Being able to scan the documents into the appropriate episode / event is also beneficial.
Since 2004 we have been working towards achieving our Scotland's Health at Work (SHAW) Awards. We have achieved the Bronze and Silver and are now working towards the Silver Healthy Working Lives (HWL) Award, which replaced SHAW in April 2008.
The Mental Health and Well-being Commendation (HWL) Award was also achieved in November 2007.
The PHS component of OPAS helped us greatly in achieving the above awards. Part of the award criteria was to be able to offer staff lifestyle checks, PHS allowed us to offer different types of lifestyle checks for employees, based on their individual needs. The lifestyle screening / cardiovascular risk appraisal and the quick nutritional indicator were popular with the staff, the print out at the end allowed them to take the information away with them for future reference and staff do attend OH to have this repeated.
The stress risk assessment questionnaire also helped with the mental health and well being commendation award.

Over the years we have had to contact the support team, have had several training days and there have been the courtesy call and visits from the team, on every occasion the staff are all very professional and helpful. There is never a question or a query that is too big or small.
